Actor Refutes Anti-Vax Stance Following Narrating Contentious Coronavirus Documentary
Liam Neeson has given his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that questions the safety of vaccines and commends one-time government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Feature's Provocative Foundation
Named "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a popular book co-authored by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the pandemic for claims that Covid was a result of a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
The publication's writing partner, a producer, has also written books with controversial radio host a known commentator. He recently posted praising Neeson's involvement in the project.
A Firm Rebuttal
Representatives for the actor have released a comment pushing back against suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vaccine beliefs.
"We all understand that unethical practices may occur within the drug industry, but that must not be equated to opposition to vaccines," the statement reads. "Liam never has been, and is not, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with Unicef underscores his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement noted that the star did not shape the project's messaging and that questions about its claims should be directed to the filmmakers.
Major Assertions In the Film
In the film, the voiceover provided by Neeson makes several provocative points:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It declares that "research has become highly influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured saying, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- The narration also criticizes pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused severe distress that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning pandemic shots, it references a view that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Context and Ongoing Disputes
It also references a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a correction by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr called on the national health agency to alter its long-held position that there is no link between vaccines and autism. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, even with a recent study from the World Health Organisation stating no such link has been found.
A Past Position of Endorsement
Differing from the film's narrative, Neeson has in the past expressed strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
Two years ago, he described vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," noting that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's voice saying, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. This is the beginning of a fresh chapter."
