Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Police then discovered many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important representative said the attack made him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
