Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing action and insanity with similar excitement, all while telling captivating, socially charged tales. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two visionaries whose work have represented all of those elements.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a fresh location and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant confidence and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Each game is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our common bold, daring sensibility to the television.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
