Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
