The Manager's Stance on Celtic

McKenna referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous soccer institution" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Portman Road in recent years and guided the team to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"There have been any of those discussions," the English capital native former Irish young player said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any part of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a special position here at a remarkable team. And we're at a really important stage of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness."

Background and Contractual Aspects

It has been suggested that McKenna would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and announce what they were, but of course it's a massive football club."

McKenna signed a new multi-year deal in last year and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are things," he replied. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I approach this job like I'll be Town's coach indefinitely. I understand that's not always going to be the situation, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I remain in position."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker played for Celtic on loan from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh striker is minded to finish the ongoing global tournament qualification, a position that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and second-placed Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in November would secure their position in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful European competition performance, should they fail to end up Group J runners-up.

Given his current position, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after the European Championship, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
