The Reform UK leader Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
